Since the day and the hour he first took the pledge,
An unquenchable thirst for imbibing knowledge
Has assailed Mr Eccles, named after the cake,
Though it's hard to believe when his first name is Jake.

This relentless pursuit of the truth, right or wrong,
He has doggedly stuck to in story and song,
And if truth's to be found in a poem or play,
He maintains that he'll finally find it one day.

4. Mr. Eccles
(Heikkilä - McGowan) Another very strange music by me. How many extra bars do I need here and there? Looks like I am doing my best to confusing myself where to change the one chord to the only other one. Pretty sure this was not the best possible tune to Davy's poem, but it got some banjo playin' on it! -- Jore

Can't go wrong with a bit of banjo now and then. If Jore doesn't know the chord changes who the hell does! --Davy
